Membership Types

There are several Membership classifications that we offer based on what a member can contribute.  We also offer a Visiting Rider program for those interested in riding with us and seeing how we operate.

Firefighter:  These members have a points requirement to remain an Active Member with the department.  These members provide the primary service of our organization- fire protection.  Firefighters must have an NFPA certified interior firefighting course, such as Essentials of Firefighting, or their Firefighter 1 certification.

QRS (Medical): These members have a points requirement to remain an Active Member with the department.  These members provide the busiest part of our organization- medical first-response.  These members must become a certified PA EMS Provider.

Administrative: These members have a points requirement to remain an Active Member with the department. Administrative members are for those who are not necessarily interested in responding to emergencies, but would rather contribute in other ways.  Administrative members help with things like fundraising, finances, record keeping, grants, public relations, and community events.

Special Active:  This membership class is targeted towards those with existing emergency services training.  Special Active members are exempt from points requirements, but cannot vote or hold an elected or appointed position.  Special Active members must already be trained in Fire and/or EMS (minimum Essentials/Interior Firefighter or a current PA EMS Provider) to be able to make an immediate operational contribution to the department.  Special Active members must also be a current member or employee with a Fire or EMS agency, OR a retired firefighter (career or volunteer) with at least 20 years service.

Observer: As part of our Visiting Rider Program, Observers are able to come and ride with us, but are not allowed to participate in any operations.  An application and waiver must be filled out, and a Chief Officer must approve the application prior to coming in.  Further rules are outlined in the Application.  Advance notice of at least a few days is preferred.

Ride-Along: As part of our Visiting Rider Program, a Ride-Along membership is for those with existing emergency services training that want to get the full experience.  Ride-Alongs are, after an orientation, able to fully participate in any operations they are professionally certified in (Fire: ProBoard/IFSAC Firefighter 1, Rescue: PA BVR-T or Proboard Vehicle Rescue Technician, EMS: PA or National Registry EMS Provider).  An application and waiver must be filled out, including authorization from the Sponsoring Agency’s Chief, and the Fire Chief must approve the application prior to coming in.  Ride-Alongs must also provide PPE from their Sponsoring Agency, or their own personal PPE.  Further rules are outlined in the Application.  Advance notice of at least 1 week is preferred.
