House Fire

2/2/2010

Late this evening Company 247 was alerted to Sutter Road in Shaler Township for a house fire with possible entrapment. 261 Assistant arrived reporting all occupants out and a well involved fire. First arriving 247E2 laid a supply line from the hydrant at the bottom of the driveway and attempted an interior attack. Due to heavy fire and a poor water supply, crews switched to a defensive operation. Large lines and master streams were placed into service once an adequate water supply was established from a Ross Township fire hydrant. Units from 247 returned to service about 4 hours later and began the process of cleaning and repacking the 2100+ feet of hose that was used. The fire in under investigation by the Allegheny County Fire Marshals Office.

Thanks to 261 for the work, and 251 for the coverage and help cleaning up.

WARNING: Telemarketers falsely claim to be soliciting for your local fire company

We have again received reports from our residents that they are receiving telephone solicitations from telemarketers claiming they support firefighters or fire victims. Please know that while these telemarketers might be soliciting donations for organizations that are not a scam or fraud and might possibly have some charitable purpose, any contributions to them do not help our fire company or any other fire company in Ross Township.

The Berkeley Hills Fire Company does not solicit for funds by phone nor do we hire any telemarketing firm to do so on our behalf.
